Did I mention the Prize Draw is Free?

.
After 36 hours I've been rather surprised that no one has entered an image for me to enhance.

Not a single one

Nothing

Nada

Zilch

My inbox is in danger of a tumbleweed blowing across it.

To say this is a bit of a surprise is an understatement, so I've been trying to work out why there has been no response to something plenty of people seem to have expressed an interest in before.

So either no one is bothered at all, or something is causing people to feel reluctant. After wracking my brains I can only think of 2 possibilities for hesitation.

1. everyone is still busy looking for an image to send and it's just a matter of time before I'm inundated; or

2. people might be unsure if they have to pay anything if they enter and don't win.

So, just in case it's the latter, please let me clarify:

It is a FREE prize draw. No payment required and no obligation to use my services.

Just email me your image with an outline of what you'd like done to it. And I will randomly choose a winner.

But in order to win, you have to enter. And at the moment, if you are the only person to enter, you win - which has to be pretty good odds...

HIKim,

yes strange phenomenon! Proves people want what they cant get and are scared of commitment too...

Ok i am preparing an email for you.

Now going through my photos I realise that the subject has to be willing to be published which makes me question whether I should go ahead with my 'gift' to them. I will send it anyway and see what you think.

Interesting though, everyone is shy under all the bluff it seems...

I was cooking a goose..I mean turkey. I'll enter. What's it for?

What a great idea! Too bad I'm more comfortable behind the camera...which is why photos of me are rare.

But I can't wait to see what you do with the winner. ;)

Katie - well if I don't get any other entries, you'll win.

Allen - it's a promotional thing - read the last post - it should explain, but feel free to email me if you have any nagging questions :)

Hope - it doesn't have to be of you - it could be of a family member, or have an old photo restored :)

I would love to enter, but as you know I blog annonymously but the main reason is that it would be next Christmas before you'd be finished trying to enhance any photo of me with all that softening, wrinkle decreasing and so on.
;0}

Can you turn me into wonder woman?

Kim Ayres said...

St Jude - you underestimate my skills... besides, I could always blend your face with that of a polar bear, which might keep a level of anonymity for you... :)

Emma - quite possibly :)

Kim suspect the problem is that people think you may take the piss.
As you know portraiture is very intimate it demands trust from the subject, or your paying money. Inspite of your skills, which far outstrip mine, I find the lack of response refreshing.

Kim.... howsabout you find me an image that YOU feel best represents me, and alter it to suit using your superior knowledge?

Ever thought that people might be intimidated because of your extensive skills with images?

Just a thought...

Me personally, our recent private discussion proved to me just how useless I feel with html in the company of a man who cannae play golf.

Adrian - sorry, but I find your cynicism disheartening and slightly offensive. Anyone who has followed my blog for any length of time will know I do not take the piss out of anyone except myself.

I have a set of skills, which I have demonstrated over previous posts, and I'm prepared to use them to create a fun gift for someone. The winner gets to dictate how I manipulate the image. It is for fun, and for them. Not for me to have a laugh at their expense.

Jimmy - I can't imagine why anyone would feel intimidated - I'm doing the image for them, not the other way round. If you go out for a meal, would you feel intimidated by the chef? :)

Meanwhile, if you want to enter, then send me an image to play with and let me know what you'd like done to it - it can be photo restoration too, if you have on old image you'd like cleaned up :)

I've got a photo I'd like to enter - how do I email it to you? Is the address I have already?

BTW Like the new theme!

Barlinnie said...

Kim, you will have an image from me before the evening ends.

Kim Ayres said...

Kate - I mentioned my email address in the last post, and you can get it from my profile. But I suspect it's the gmail one you already have of me as I've been using it for over 4 years :)

Jimmy - I'll keep an eye out for it :)

Pics on their way!

I actually don't think its an issue with anyone one thinking you would take the piss Kim. I think its more that people are scared of having their faces played with and published,...or maybe its that a lot your readers are in the US(?) and like Allen busy with their Turkeys!

I have a photo, just no email address for the bearded one :-)

I am one of your massive amounts of followers that latched on when you were a blog of note. I have enjoyed reading entries. I hope you are well.

Kim Ayres said...

Mapstew - not here yet - hope you spelled my name right :)

Katie - that's why I suggested they might want to play with the face of someone close instead... And yes, you're right, turkey season probably is occupying a few minds :)

Auntie Em - I mentioned my email address in the last post, and you can get it from my profile. But in case you don't want to search the first part is kimayres and I'm at gmail.com

Well that obviously didn't work! I tried quite a few times to attach pics to an email, without success. I could be doing summat wrong.
One of the pics was of the band, so if ya can, or want, please lift it off my sidebar!
(It's back to the kids for more IT lessons I fear!)

Kim Ayres said...

Mapstew - any of the ones on yours sidebar are too small to make much difference - and certainly no good if you want to print them out. You'll also have to let me know what effects or enhancements you'd want done to the image :)

"I could be doing summat wrong."

...aye, try putting doon your full gless first.

Gobble, gobble! I will look at my pics when I get home! It's a very generous offer....

I think it's a wonderful idea. I didn't enter because I am married to an art director/graphic designer and I thought it would be unfair or unethical or unsomething to take away the opportunity from someone else. However, if nobody takes advantage of your generous offer, let me know and I'll certainly send you a photo :) But you can only make me beautiful, because I'm that vain :)

Pat said...

You have already demonised me:)
Be careful what you ask for. Remember your recent inundation?

Kim Ayres said...

Jimmy - you have the measure of Mapstew I see :)

Starrlife - look forward to seeing one :)

Erika - but how could I improve on perfection?

Pat - you were the one who wanted green skin and pointy ears, I seem to remember :) I thought I might be inundated, but then no one responded to it. Anyway, however many entries there are, there will be only one winner (or 2 if I'm feeling really generous)

Kim,
Here is my reason; I just this morning read your blog with the FREE photography enhancement offer. Although I thought I was subscribed to receive updates of your blog automatically in my e-mail, they have not arrived. As you may know the past two weeks have been rather intensive for me. Working five days straight and then entering into a blues periods as a result of several factors of which I won't go into at this time because this comment is too long already. But I have taken steps to remedy the situation where I didn’t receive automatic updates of your blog, this morning I subscribed to Bloglines.

Now, I know I'm too late to enter the enhancement photography contest but I'll send my picture anyway because I still have the wrinkles. I enjoyed tremendously your transformation of that lovely lady’s picture I thought I would give you a real challenge and throw my unattractive visage at you. If the challenge is insurmountable or you have lost interest (or don't have the time), I understand. But I did want to let you know that your blogs continue to be the most interesting and informative blogs I've have seen yet on the Internet.

Thank you again for being there for all of us who enjoy your blogs.

Ron

Ron - did you not read that the prize draw was free, but that it was a draw? I'm afraid I was only doing the enhancement for the winner and you didn't enter :(
